Our Process

Vail Designers - Our Process

Phase One: Discovery

step one

The discovery process begins when you approach Prosper with your ideas. From there we hold an initial brainstorm meeting, identify which members of our team will be most appropriate for your project, and enter into a contract. Once a contract is signed, we begin building a detailed mock-up of the architecture and logic driving your site. This stage, called wireframing, is critical to project success, it allows the designer to translate your vision into creative aesthetics and also outlines the logic that our programmers need to create the site. The services encompassed in this phase include:

  • Project Initiation
  • Brainstorming and Introduction to “Your Prosper Team”
  • Contract Signing and “Discovery Process” Payment
  • Identity Development
  • Logo Definition (if requested)
  • Wire-framing Detailing Layout and Functionality of Pages

Phase Two: Design and Optimization

Once the wireframes are complete and an aesthetic has been settled on, Prosper takes your project into web design. In addition to design, we also perform detailed Search Engine Optimization (SEO) research to ensure that your website is reaching your target audience. Finally, a crucial element of phase two is the building of a detailed Statement of Work (SOW). This document not only outlines exactly how time will be spent on your site but what your site will ultimately cost. We choose to build a full Statement after we have begun the process because it is not until we are through the initial discovery phase that we can accurately gauge all that will be entailed in building a site. The services encompassed in this phase include:

  • Review of SOW
  • Review of Site Cost
  • Web Design
  • Search Engine Optimization

Phase Three: Development

After we take your sites’ wireframes through the design stage we initiate programming. We have programmers who specialize in PHP, ASP.net, Java, and Flash. While we can certainly build you a customized site, with a custom administrator, but we prefer working on several platforms that already exist in the world

A platform describes hardware architecture that alreadynexists on the web and is utilized by hundreds of programmers. The reason we use these platforms is because they are constantly improved, easy to update and recognized by
programmers all across the world. Not to say we don’t build your website. Using a platform is akin to using a generic blueprint for a house. All houses should have a certain logic--theyshould have a front door and a backdoor, good use of s pace and a strong foundation. Every architecture company has a generic blueprint in mind when they begin designing your home.

In the same vein, we begin a project with one of these platforms in mind, and design a site suited to your needs. We utilize the blueprints as a reference but write all our code by hand. Platforms allow us to do is give you the strongest product out there, built with as much advice as possible, customized to fit your needs.

We use three platforms the most because we believe they are the best out there:

  • WordPress
  • Joomla!
  • Adobe ® Flash

This stage can take 3-5 weeks and entails bringing your vision to the world wide web. If we can relate this process to
that of building a house, Phase I determines what kind of house you would like to build, and how it will be laid out, Phase II is the drawing up of complete blueprints and interior design ideas for you house, and Phase III is when you break ground, your constructions move in with their bulldozers, planks and nails. The services encompassed in development include:

  • Web Programming
  • Progress Updates
  • Problem-solving if necessary
  • Testing

Phase Four: Project Completion

After the initial phases of programming have been completed, the process is not quite over. Just like building a home you have to make sure all the faucets and piping work, our programmers need to make sure all the bells and whistles act as they should. Our programmers perform a fully comprehensive review of your site ascertain that no bugs are present and that the site displays well in all browsers. Once this is stage is complete, your site is ready for launch! As part of Prosper’s commitment to quality, we are on-call for 30 days post launch to fix any issues that may arise. The services encompassed in this phase include:

  • Cross-Browser Testing
  • Administrative Website Training
  • Final Content Review
  • Site Launch
  • 30-Day Debug (miscellaneous tweaks and fixes)
  • Retainer Contract (optional)
  • Strategy Development Contract (optional)
  • Celebration!

"We decided to have Prosper design our website due to the quality of their creative ideas when we initially met with them. They took the time to understand our business and needs, listened carefully to our requirements and then added to the process with with excellent ideas and input."
